The Flashcards tab in School turns material you already have into a study set. Paste it or upload it; CruxAI writes the cards.
Creating a set
- Paste your material into Study material — class notes, a review sheet, vocabulary, or source text, up to 200,000 characters.
- Or select Add photos or files to upload images, PDFs, or .txt, .md, and .csv files. You can combine uploads with pasted text.
- Optionally name the set. Left blank, CruxAI names it from the content.
- Choose how many cards — 8, 12, 16, 20, or 30 — and a difficulty of Easy, Medium, or Hard.
- Select Generate flashcards.
Difficulty changes what the cards ask for, not just their wording: Easy leans toward recall and definitions, Hard toward application and connecting ideas.
Studying a set
Select a set from the left pane to start a session. Select the card or press Space to flip it, then rate yourself:
- Know it — you had it.
- Needs work — you did not.
Use the arrows or the progress bar to move between cards, and Shuffle to break the order you have accidentally memorized. Your position and progress are shown above the card.
Managing sets
Sets are saved to your account and stay in the left pane until you remove them. Delete removes a set and its cards permanently.
Getting better sets
- Give it the source material, not a summary of it — CruxAI writes better questions from the original.
- Generate one set per topic rather than one for a whole unit. Thirty mixed cards are harder to use than three focused sets of twelve.
- If the cards are too shallow, regenerate at a higher difficulty rather than rewriting the prompt.
