What CruxAI remembers: memory, auto-learn, and control

Memory lets CruxAI carry durable facts about you from one conversation into the next — the stack you work in, how you like answers formatted, the names of the projects you keep mentioning — so you do not restate them every time.

The two switches

Both live in Settings -> Memory & privacy.

  • Memory — the master switch. Turn it off and CruxAI stops using saved facts entirely.
  • Auto-learn — saves new durable facts as they come up, without asking each time. Turn it off to keep memory but add to it only when you say so.
Even with auto-learn on, a fact that conflicts with something already saved always requires your confirmation. CruxAI will not quietly overwrite what it knows about you.

Reading and editing the exact memory

The Active memories box in the same tab is the real thing — not a summary of it. One fact per line, up to 50,000 characters. Edit or delete lines directly and save; what is in that box is what CruxAI can use.

Memory history

Memory is versioned. Switch the Active / History tabs to see what was removed or replaced and when. Facts you remove stop affecting responses immediately but remain visible in history, so you can tell what changed rather than guessing.

Inline chat references

A separate toggle in the same tab controls inline chat references — the clickable markers CruxAI adds to responses for people, places, and things it cites. Selecting one opens a short explanatory panel. Turn it off for plainer responses.

Clearing memory

To wipe everything at once, use Settings -> Your data -> Reset CruxAI memory. That clears saved memories and personal context fields and cannot be undone.
