Publishing, custom domains, and version history

Site Builder projects are private until you publish them. Publishing takes the current draft and makes it live.

Publishing

Select Publish. Your project goes live at https://your-project.cruxapps.io, using the address derived from the project name. Open site in the Actions menu takes you to the public address.

Editing after publishing does not change the live site — your draft and your published release are separate. Publish again to push changes out.

Renaming

Rename project changes the display name and the address. Changing the address changes the public URL, so anyone holding the old link will need the new one.

Using your own domain

Custom domains are a CruxAI+ project setting. Your cruxapps.io address keeps working alongside the domain you add.

  1. Open Custom domain from the Actions menu and enter your domain, for example www.example.com.
  2. Site Builder shows the DNS record it needs: a CNAME pointing at your project's cruxapps.io address.
  3. Add that record wherever your domain's DNS is managed.
  4. Leave proxying off until the connection succeeds.
  5. Select Check connection. HTTPS is added automatically once verification passes.

DNS changes can take a while to propagate, so a domain that does not verify immediately is usually just early — check again later before changing anything. Disconnect removes the domain without affecting the site.

Version history

Every publish is kept as a version. Open Version history to review earlier releases and restore one. This is the fastest fix when a change goes live and turns out to be wrong.

Taking a site down

  • Maintenance mode — temporarily shows visitors a maintenance page while the project stays intact.
  • Unpublish site — takes it offline without deleting anything. Publish again to bring it back.
  • Delete project — permanently removes the project. Download it first if you want a copy.

Other useful actions

  • Clear site cache — forces visitors to receive fresh files. Use it if an update does not appear after publishing.
  • Download project — saves a ZIP of the current draft, so you always have your own copy of the source.
