Searching, leaving, and archiving a Space

The housekeeping side of Spaces: finding things, keeping up, and winding a Space down.

Space search

Search covers tasks, notes, announcements, events, and filenames. Enter at least two characters.

Direct messages are intentionally not indexed. Private conversations never appear in anyone's search results, including the participants'. If something in a DM matters to the group, move it into a note or a task.

Notifications

The notifications panel collects updates from across the Space. Mark all read clears the backlog when you have been away.

Recent activity

Your Spaces home page shows recent activity across every Space you belong to, which is the quickest way to catch up when you belong to several.

Leaving a Space

Choose leave Space to remove yourself. Your access ends immediately, and content you created stays behind — tasks, notes, files, and messages remain for the rest of the group.

Files you shared stay linked to the Space while their originals remain in your Crux Cloud. If you want them gone too, remove them from the Space before you leave.

Rejoining requires a fresh invite. An owner cannot leave a Space outright — transfer ownership or archive it instead.

Archiving a Space

Archiving retires a Space whose work is finished while keeping everything in it. It is the right end state for a completed project: the record stays readable rather than being deleted, and the Space stops appearing among your active ones.

Archiving is an administrative action, available to those who can manage the Space.

Choosing the right one

  • You are moving on but the group continues — leave.
  • The work is finished for everyone — archive.
  • Someone else should no longer have access — remove them from Members.
