The task board is where a Space's work lives. It is a simple three-column board, which is the point — the board should tell you what is happening at a glance.
The columns
- To do — accepted but not started.
- In progress — someone is actively working on it.
- Done — finished.
Move a task between columns from the task itself. The Space home page shows a count of open tasks so you can see the state of things without opening the board.
Creating a task
Select Add task and give it a title. You can then assign an owner from the Space's members and set a priority.
Assigning owners
A task with no owner is a task nobody is doing. Assign one at creation time wherever you can — even a provisional owner is better than none, because it gives someone the job of reassigning it.
Priorities
Priority sorts what matters to the top. It works only if most tasks are ordinary — if everything is high priority, the field carries no information.
Who can do what
- Create tasks — lets someone add tasks and manage their own.
- Manage all tasks — lets someone edit, reassign, and delete anyone's tasks. Admins and owners have this.
Viewers can see the board but not change it.
Writing tasks that work
- Start with a verb. "Send the client the revised quote" is a task; "Quote" is a label.
- One task, one outcome. If finishing it requires three separate conversations, it is three tasks.
- Put the detail in a linked note rather than in the title.
