The Space workspace assistant

Every Space has a workspace assistant: CruxAI, reasoning over that Space's shared context rather than starting cold.

What it can see

The assistant works from the Space's shared material — tasks, notes, announcements, events, and shared files.

Direct messages are always excluded. That is not a setting; private conversations are never given to the assistant under any configuration.

What it can do

Because it knows the Space, it can act on it: draft tasks from a discussion, write up a note, propose calendar events, or prepare an announcement. Typical uses:

  • "Turn the decisions in the planning note into tasks with owners."
  • "Summarize what changed in this Space this week."
  • "Draft an announcement about the deadline moving to the 14th."
  • "What is still open and who is it waiting on?"

Nothing happens without confirmation

The assistant proposes; a person applies. Two separate permissions control this:

  • Use Workspace assistant — ask it things and see what it drafts.
  • Confirm assistant actions — actually apply what it proposed.

Splitting the two means a Space can let everyone use the assistant while keeping the ability to change shared work with a smaller group. Review a draft before applying it — the assistant works from what is written in the Space, and anything the group never wrote down it cannot know.

Tuning it

A Space's settings include the assistant's prompt, which lets an admin describe the group's context, vocabulary, and conventions so drafts come back in the right shape. Say what the group does and how it works, not just what tone to use.
