When CruxAI creates a file during a conversation — a script, a document, a config, a data file — that file is tracked as an artifact. The Artifacts window is where all of them live for that conversation.
Opening the Artifacts window
Select Artifacts from the conversation toolbar. The window has two panes:
- Files — every artifact created in this conversation, with a search box for finding one by name.
- Version history — once you select a file, each saved version of it appears here.
Why versions matter
Revisions are additive. If CruxAI rewrites a file and the new version is worse, the previous one is still there. Select any version in the right pane to inspect it, then open it in Canvas to keep working from that point instead of the latest one.
Artifacts vs. Canvas vs. Library
- Artifacts is scoped to one conversation — it answers "what did we build in this thread?"
- Canvas is the editor you open a single artifact in.
- Library is the account-wide collection of everything you have created, across all conversations.
Files that CruxAI generates for download — reports, exports, packages — are handled by sandboxes rather than artifacts. See the sandbox article for how those work.
