Managing your conversation history

Recent conversations are in the sidebar, but the full archive lives on the Conversation history page. Open it from the sidebar, or press Cmd/Ctrl + K.

Searching

The search box matches both conversation titles and message previews, so you can find a thread by something that was said in it rather than by what it was named. Conversations are titled automatically from their first exchange; you can rename any of them.

Active and archived

Use the Active and Archived filters to switch between them. Archiving takes a conversation out of your sidebar and default list without deleting anything — the thread and its messages remain, and you can reopen and continue it at any time.

Continuing a conversation

Open any conversation and keep typing. Its history, attachments, mode, and reasoning effort come back with it.

Deleting

Delete a single conversation from its entry in the list. To remove everything at once, use Settings -> Your data -> Delete all chats. Deletion is permanent, so export first if you might want the content later.

Useful shortcuts

  • Cmd/Ctrl + K — search all conversations.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + F — search within the current conversation.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + B — show or hide the recent conversations sidebar.
  • Cmd/Ctrl + N — start a new conversation.
